What are telomeres?

Telomeres are DNA repeat sequences at the ends of chromosomes in eukaryotic cells. They play an important role in stabilizing and maintaining the integrity of chromosomes and genomes. Telomeres gradually shorten during each cell division, leading to cell aging and death. Therefore, telomere shortening is considered a marker of biological aging. WHAT IS NICOTINAMIDE MONONUCLEOTIDE (NMN)?

NMN is naturally found in different fruits and vegetables, say broccoli, tomato and avocado, as well as beef and shrimp. It is a precursor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) that acts as an intermediate in NAD+ biosynthesis. NAD+ is a critical co-enzyme in humans and plays an important role in various biological processes, like gene expression, DNA repair, aging and cell death.

ANTI-AGING ACTIVITY OF NMN

In recent years, NMN is gaining more attention for its anti-aging activity and health benefits. NAD+ levels were found to decrease while aging and NMN supplementation can compensate for the decreased NAD+ levels. NMN supplementation can also reverse the mitochondrial decay due to aging by the increased NAD+ levels.
