新春大吉要有柑桔 利腸助眠令你開心

農曆新年的水果當然要有柑和桔,不少人會買棵年桔放在家,取其大吉大利的意頭。桔子(Citrus reticulata)是柑橘屬(Citrus)水果,和柑、橙、檸檬等同屬。柑橘在古今中外都是吉祥富貴的象徵,古代歐洲的皇室貴族庭園亦多有種植。除了其鮮艷的顏色外,柑橘類植物亦有豐富營養價值,含維他命C、鉀、水溶性纖維和多種植物營養素,能幫助提升免疫力和改善心情。

 

 

柑橘類黃酮利腸解鬱     果膠抗炎有助情緒

柑橘富含多種類黃酮 (Flavonoid),如柚皮素(Naringenin)、葡萄糖苷(Glucoside)及刺芒柄花素(Formononetin)等。它們對情緒的益處與腸道菌有關。美國研究分析三萬多名中年護士的健康及飲食數據,發現吃最多柑橘的組別患抑鬱症風險比最少的低22%。研究再邀請當中二百多名更年期護士進行腸道菌和血液分析,發現柑橘中的柚皮素和刺芒柄花素與降低抑鬱症風險有關。這兩種類黃酮能增加腸道益菌普拉梭菌(Faecalibacterium prausnitzii),促進腦部合成血清素及多巴胺等能調控情緒的神經傳遞物質,從而降低抑鬱症風險。

韓國亦有研究招募年輕人,使用美國流行病學研究中心的抑鬱量表(CES-D)篩選40名抑鬱受試者,分組每日飲兩次190毫升含類黃酮的橙汁或低類黃酮橙味飲品八週。結果發現飲用含類黃酮橙汁組別的抑鬱評分有顯著降低,而腦源性神經營養因子(BDNF)水平則有所提高,腸道微生物多樣性亦明顯高於橙味飲品組。

除了類黃酮外,柑橘果渣中的低甲氧基柑橘果膠(Low-Methoxy Pectin)亦有抗炎及降低焦慮的作用。英國有研究將健康志願者隨機分為兩組,每日服用20克低甲氧基果膠或10克麥芽糊精。結果發現,補充柑橘果膠組別的炎症指標物TNF-αIL-1βIL-6INF-γ都有明顯降低,而抗炎指標IL-10則有所上升。此外,柑橘果膠亦顯著降低了參與者的焦慮評分,從8.38分降至4.46分。在後續研究中,受試者食用每兩週遞增劑量的低甲氧基柑橘果膠(每天5克、10克和15)。結果發現,只有15克果膠有顯著的抗炎效果;而每天10克和15克劑量都能顯著降低焦慮和抑鬱評分。

 

柑橘精油香氣怡人    調控腦部放鬆助眠 

柑橘除了是美味健康的水果外,其獨特的氣味更能減輕壓力、令人心曠神怡。柑橘精油中的檸檬烯能增加抑制性神經遞質γ-氨基丁酸(GABA)的水平,幫助鎮靜和放鬆神經。泰國有研究使用32通道腦電圖(EEG),記錄20名健康志願者在吸入不同濃度柑橘精油後的腦電波。結果顯示,吸入橘子精油後,腦電波有明顯變化,反映了柑橘精油的放鬆和鎮靜效果。而在高濃度下,橘子精油還能有效縮短入睡所需時間。

另有研究給被藥物破壞神經的抑鬱小鼠,每日吸入不同濃度的柑橘類精油7天。結果發現,吸入柑橘精油的抑鬱小鼠體重下降較少,而在評估抑鬱行為的強迫游泳測試(FST)和懸尾測試(TST)中,柑橘精油顯著增加了小鼠的積極活動時間。此外,柑橘精油能減輕藥物對小鼠的神經損傷,顯著增加小鼠腦部海馬體中的神經元數量。大腦中血清素受體(5HT-1A)、糖皮質激素受體(GR)和腦源性神經營養因子(BDNF)的表達水平都有顯著增加,可見柑橘精油通過調節這些神經遞質和神經營養因子,發揮抗抑鬱作用。

農曆新年,桔與柑不可或缺,家有年桔寓意大吉。但賀年盆栽上的年桔因栽種條件、農藥施放的種類及用量不受食物安全和衛生條例規管,因此即使經浸洗後,也不宜食用。適宜另外買柑桔食用。桔和柑寓意吉祥,營養豐富又 能改善心情,日常多多進食為新一年注入活力。
